So, it’s election certification day. It went without a hitch, of course. The orange one was the winner, so there was no objection to the certification.
In the meantime, the president-elect has been talking and posting about what he plans to do at 12:01 pm on January 20th. He’s complaining that the flags are at half-staff. “No one wants to see that,” he says. Well, I do. We should honor the former president, Jimmy Carter as befits an honorable man and former president.
Aside from that, it’s a litany of destruction. Immediate implementation of deportations. Removal of green initiatives. Increases in oil drilling, even though the United States leads the world in oil drilling. It will also start the process of confirming his picks for cabinet posts. I’d like to say, not my circus, not my monkeys but the future president is determined to turn this whole thing into a circus and fully intends to appoint as many clowns, or monkeys, if you will, into office.
He’s already said he can’t lower grocery prices, or any other prices, for that matter. He has no incentive to do so, since his billionaire buddies are the ones who keep the prices abnormally high and are making huge profits. If you’re a parent of a special needs child, you’re already worried about the plan to eliminate the Department of Education. This is the body that ensures your child can get the education they deserve. I certainly shudder to think what vaccine denier Robert Kennedy Jr. has planned. The MAGA crowd is famous for naming programs exactly opposite of what they’re actually planning. Our healthcare is at risk.
If you’re thinking of leaving the U.S., Europe has recently said they’d prefer you not go there. Now we know how the refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and Latin America feel. Is the new phrase, “Americans need not apply?”
Then I read a short article today that the orange one held a ball at Mar-A-Lago, where they all laughed about how they held an insurrection four years ago. Hilarious. The future president is musing about how he won’t leave in 2028. Already planning his President for Life, title I guess.
I don’t know how the next four years are going to go. If the MAGA plans come to fruition, it’s not going to go well for anyone not at least a millionaire. If it’s possible, some members of the House and Senate will grow a spine and stop the madness. Maybe. Maybe not. I for one plan on doing what I can to strenuously object to the MAGA plans.
