Retired military, old as dirt, tired of all the crap. This is me, speaking up about it.

Where My Sense of Dread Is Gone

I got up this morning, January 21st, 2021, without that sense of dread I’d felt every morning since November 2016.

I didn’t have to ask my husband, who gets up earlier than I do, “What stupid thing has the President done now?” And by “stupid” I mean ignorant, illegal, hateful, spiteful, or cruel, just to name a few.

Instead, I got up to the news that the new President has rejoined the U.S.A. to the world community by reentering us in the W.H.O. and the Paris Climate accords. Environment killing laws/policies have been reversed. Minority oppressing policies have been cancelled. The reorganization of the Federal task force to combat Covid was completed. The list goes on and on and that was just on the 20th. …

Trump: A Criminal Name

Thoughts about what I want to say in this post have been swirling around in my head for weeks. It’s not enough for me to say, “I don’t like Trump.” If you’ve read any of my previous posts, that’s pretty evident. I need to express, I think, the why of it. Why do I think this barely human, wanna-be dictator, is such a poisoned-pill and deserving to be both impeached and convicted?

First. He learned at his father’s knee. The father was a criminal. He taught his son to be a criminal. I want to say also that he’s stupid, but he’s not. He’s extremely focused on what is important to him, greed, and not at all interested in any other thing. …

Avoid the Ultra-Right So Called News Outlets

I hear from many of my Republican friends that all of this election fraud news is so confusing. Is it just me or do you want to shout, “It’s not confusing! There wasn’t any voter fraud!” I know I want to bang my head on my desk every time I see someone say that.

It’s a shame that so many people get their news from these ultra-right media outlets. Who do I mean? For one, Fox News. I know the entertainment site (they claimed that’s what they were in a court of law) is not in favor with the far-right viewer at present, but still, the entertainers on their various opinion shows still vomit out the nonsense that Trump, his family, and his minions, say. In Fox’s defense, some of their commentators are beginning to back off. …

My Opinion on Where the U.S. is Now

It’s been a struggle, that’s for sure, and for both sides of the American political spectrum. Over the last few months, I’ve talked to people I know, both Republican and Democrat. The thing I noticed the most? They’re all afraid.

Many of my GOP friends are concerned, and still are, of the U.S. becoming an unchristian nation. They actually fear that the country will feel the wrath of God over birth control, LGBTQ rights, abortion, and many other things. That’s why when MAGA folk are interviewed on TV, they site Trump’s Christianity and abortion as their number one concern. They do not believe that COVID-19 is real. They don’t have any problem with the President and his administration dismantling consumer protections, environmental laws, or banking laws. He’s “a businessman” they say. …

Do You Still Want to Vote for Him?

I copied a list of President Trump’s thuggery from McSweeney’s internet site in July 2020. As you read through it, it’s just mind-boggling. Even before he began his run for the American presidency, he was a complete tool on Twitter and elsewhere.

From the Obama birther conspiracy to groping young women at his Miss America pageants, he revealed himself long before his candidacy announcement. Perhaps people thought that since Reagan was a good president, at least for the top 1% of the country, Trump would also be a good president. After all, they’d both been TV stars, right? …

Coronavirus Compared to 9/11

The remembrance for 9/11 was just a few days ago. All of us alive at the time and old enough to know what was going on, knows where we were and what we were doing at the time the World Trade Center towers were hit.

For me, it was sheer disbelief. It was an accident. No one in their right minds would deliberately fly an airliner into a building. The idea was so monstrous none of us could get our minds around it. But they did. On purpose. With malice aforethought. It took me all day to come to grips with it. All. …

Think Again.

I’ve mentioned before that the daily onslaught of ridiculous, gob-smacking, and terrifying Trump pronouncements makes is nearly impossible to pick just one to write about. Today, the headlines stopped me in my tracks. If I don’t write anything else, this is the one I need to shout from the rooftops.

It’s not like the President hasn’t said in the past that he’d be “willing” to be President for Life. He has. More than once. If you’ve read any of the most recent books by family, ex-administration staff, and others, you’ll know that our President has no sense of humor. He never jokes. He tells lies. Whoppers. On an hourly basis. He’s also not adverse to telling total fabrications about someone, as Mary Trump has related, even when the person is standing right there. He enjoys the person’s discomfiture. …

Economic Stimulus or Death Knell for Social Security?

How many of you are on or know someone who gets Social Security? Grandpa? Mom? An orphan child? Wife? Husband? I’m on Social Security and I am not shy about telling you that having that check every month has been all the difference for my husband and myself. Our retirement was just barely making it, to be honest. I know. I’ve been paying into the Social Security fund since I was sixteen. I’ve been paying into it. I just wanted to emphasize that. Not the Government. …

Not a Good Look for the United States

If anyone can stomach watching the news any longer, you may have seen several Trump actions that make you’re stomach roll. Things like sending in mystery troops to quell demonstrators in Portland, Oregon, holding immigrant children for months on end in border patrol cages, his use of force to clear Lafayette Park of peaceful demonstrators, the pardoning of convicted war criminal Eddie Gallagher (amongst others), and so on. Ad nauseum, I might add.

His latest, well, at least the one I’m featuring here, is from his executive order to “…impose economic and U.S. travel sanctions on any foreign person ‘directly engaged in any effort by the International Criminal Court based in the Hague, to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute’ personnel of the U.S. or our allies without prior consent of their respective governments.” You can read the article here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/nuremberg-prosecutor-warning-trump-war-090342221.html. …

On the Trail of a Pandemic

Some Useful Information

Have you heard from friends or family that they don’t believe in the steps to help prevent the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading because the doctors and scientists keep telling us different things from the beginning? You know, like mask wearing and social distancing?

I know, right? It’s frustrating. It’s frustrating for us. It’s frustrating for the scientists. It’s frustrating for the media. But there’s a reason why things keep changing.

It’s because this virus is a new to the medical world. It swept over the planet in a tsunami, and people are getting sick in ways the scientific community can’t pinpoint yet. The nomenclature doesn’t help, coronavirus. That’s because most people think that’s just the common cold. This virus is different. It behaves differently, for one thing. That’s a problem that the scientists didn’t even know until millions of people got the disease and the scientists could study how it acted. How do I know? It’s because I ran across this article out of the University of California, San Francisco, written by a researcher.
